Eggesford is a small parish in beautiful unspoilt mid-Devon countryside. It is served by Eggesford railway station on the Tarka Line, Exeter to Barnstaple railway line. Its church stands alone on the banks of the River Taw and was once at the centre of a huge estate belonging to the Earls of Portsmouth. Eggesford Forest is home to the first trees planted by the Forestry Commission in 1919.
